Exposure
WCPA competes in targeted events and games across Canada and the United States to maximize both athlete development and post-secondary exposure. Our competition schedule is intentionally built to place student-athletes in environments that challenge them beyond a local setting and align with long-term development goals.
SELECT EVENTS & COMPETITION
WCPA participates in a combination of leagues, showcase events, and exhibition games, including:
• Border League (Las Vegas, NV)
• WNPA League (National Canadian Prep Women’s League)
• Nike Tournament of Champions (Phoenix, AZ)
• PWBL (Western Canadian Prep Women’s League)
• Exhibition games versus local college programs (exposure against the next level)
These events provide consistent exposure to higher levels of competition and post-secondary opportunities.
QUALITY COMPETITION & GAME FILM
Competing against strong opposition allows our student-athletes to generate high-quality game film that post-secondary & national team coaches can trust.
This level of competition supports:
• Accurate qualitative evaluation (decision-making, pace, physicality)
• Reliable quantitative evaluation (minutes, matchups, roles, efficiency)
The result is a clearer picture of how athletes perform in game environments comparable to the post-secondary level.
DEVELOPMENT THROUGH CHALLENGE
By competing against student-athletes with similar goals and aspirations, WCPA athletes are consistently challenged to adapt, execute, problem solve and grow.
Higher-level competition accelerates:
• Basketball IQ
• Physical and mental resilience
• Readiness for post-secondary expectations
Placement
POST-SECONDARY PLACEMENT SUPPORT
WCPA staff maintains ongoing relationships and communication with Canada Basketball, college and university coaches to support athlete placement at an appropriate level.
Our role includes:
• Providing honest and transparent evaluations
• Sharing verified and reliable game film
• Supporting athletes through the recruiting and placement process
The objective is not simply exposure, but the right exposure aligned with each athlete’s abilities, development stage, and long-term academic and athletic goals. Placement is about long term fit and growth for each individual to have success on and off the court once they graduate from WCPA.
PLACEMENT RESULTS
In the first two seasons of the program, all graduating WCPA student-athletes have received scholarship offers to play post-secondary basketball. WCPA student-athletes have also been identified for National Team Programs as well.
These opportunities have spanned multiple levels, including NCAA Division I/II, USports, CCAA and JUCO.
